Paving the Way (Early Intervention and Identification)

Paving the Way is a specialist early intervention and identification service that provides early support for primary-aged children (5-11 years), including those transitioning to secondary school in the London Borough of Sutton, who may be experiencing difficulties with social communication, attention and concentration, emotional regulation and anxiety. Working in partnership with schools, families, and professionals, Paving the Way aims to promote inclusion, wellbeing, self-esteem and positive educational outcomes.

Tailored services may include:

  • Individualised one-to-one sessions with the child
  • Targeted group work to develop resilience and reduce anxiety
  • Family Holiday Workshops
  • Individualised one-to-one support for parents and carers which may include home visits and strategies
  • Advice, consultation meetings with the school, information giving and signposting useful information and resources
  • Screenings and reports for presenting neurodevelopmental difficulties (autism/ADHD). These may be referred to be assessed by Cognus Autism Pathway or Children’s and Adolescent Mental Health Service (CAMHS)
