2025 saw the development of our Reflective Safeguarding Supervision Offer. Now in March 2026 we are proud to launch our new Education Untapped Podcast – ‘The importance of protecting yourself and others when working in safeguarding roles’
In April 2025, the Cognus Education Safeguarding Team and Education Psychology Service received a letter of recognition on behalf of the sponsors of the London Children’s Services Practice Spotlight for their work around safeguarding supervision – ‘Better Together’ – Strengthening our Designated Safeguarding Lead Network.

The role of the DSL and the safeguarding team is forever expanding, and it is important that DSLS have a safe space to share reflections on their practice, including what is going well, what is causing frustration and what would help to improve things.
We are so proud of the DSL Network in our local area, and what they do each day does not go unrecognised. However, they need to remember that they are ‘human first’ and to be able to fully ‘show up’ for others, they must ensure their own needs are met and their feelings are validated.
Cognus Ltd have been facilitating group safeguarding supervision sessions for the last 4 years, and these have been hugely successful.
‘Supervision helps me to see things differently. In this role you never feel that are doing a good enough job. You constantly worry about missing something and we are talking about children’s lives. This session is a safe, reflective space to talk about how I am really feeling’ (Primary DSL, January 2024).
We are now offering an extended service for all members of the safeguarding team: DSLs, Headteachers, and Senior Leadership Teams: Reflective Safeguarding Supervision Offer – Cognus
