Back in 2023, we were contacted in regards to a young person not attending school due to their anxiety. Through multi-agency working alongside VPP, Early Help, school and VPP, we were able to gain support for this young person with STARS and they have now been accessing their school full time for some time. Parents didn’t think this would ever be possible as she was unable to attend for such a long time!
In 2024, her sibling transitioned to high school and despite multiple TAC meetings prior to the transition and support put in place, as it was suspected that she was going to find the transition difficult, she still found the jump to high school too much and her attendance dropped dramatically due to her anxieties. Again, with a multi-agency approach, she was able to gain support from STARS and is now nearly back to a full-time timetable and seems happy and engaged in school.
A double success!
