Hearing and Vision Education Service (HaVES) is an education service focused on supporting pupils with deafness, vision impairment (VI), or multi-sensory impairment (MSI) to access education successfully. We work with families, early years settings, primary and secondary schools, and Post-16 providers.

The support we provide can include:
- General recommendations on deafness/visual impairment
- Recommendations for specific students/settings
- One-to-one intervention with pupils/students
- Whole school or setting training for staff.
- Peer training for the pupils/students
- Recommendations regarding IEPs or SEN Support Plans, and target setting
- Support/audits to become more accessible and inclusive for pupils with deafness or visual impairment
- Functional visual assessments of individual pupils
- Recommendations on assistive technology for deaf/visual impaired pupils in the classroom
- Recommendations regarding examination concessions
- Recommendations regarding modification strategies for SATs and GCSEs
- Direct teaching for mobility and independence in school settings
- Supporting families in understanding their child’s hearing and visual needs
- Preparing students for adulthood through tailored Deaf Studies sessions
- Access to mentoring and positive deaf role models for students.
- Collaborate with other services such as SALT, OT, Physio etc…and signpost to them where required
- Contribute to EHCNA/EHCP and attend all Annual Reviews ensuring all recommendations and reasonable adjustments are in place to ensure an inclusivity and fair access to learning
