What we offer

Paving the Way Warriors

The Warriors are a small group of children that meet up every week to share their experiences and develop friendships in a safe space. The group runs for six weeks and children are allocated to the groups via their PTW caseworker based on consideration of best intervention i.e. one to one or group.

  • Warrior group

Year 4-6 pupils (after school group)

The group focuses on challenges such as friendship, self-esteem, attention and concentration and communication. Each group is tailored to suit the needs of the children attending.

  • Paving the Way Mini Warriors

Years 1-3 (afternoon group)

The group focuses on supporting children to understand, identify, and manage their feelings (emotional regulation) in a fun and interactive environment.

This in turn, enables the staff to gain a valuable insight into the children, their personalities, challenges and possible neurodivergence which enable the team to provide detailed observation reports and strategies for their individual journeys moving forward.

  • One to child intervention session

At Paving the Way, we understand that every child is unique and may need individualised support to help them thrive. Our one-to-one sessions provide a safe, structured space for children to explore their feelings, develop new skills, and build confidence with the guidance of a trained specialist. Each session is tailored to the child’s needs, interests, and goals. A combination of play, creative activities, and structured tasks is used to engage the child.

  • Family Support Group

The Family Support group is co-run by PTW and Limes College, it runs every term and is open to PTW parents and all parents in the London Borough of Sutton with a primary aged child.

The group runs for 8 weeks and covers a variety of topics. We hope to offer parents a safe space to meet other parents in a similar situation to learn more about different topics, explore new ideas that will support children’s social emotional growth and development.

Our aim is that parents will:

· Feel more empowered and confident to trust their judgements when supporting their children

· Build self-esteem and confidence as a parent

· Share ideas and tips with each other

Whilst we know that some parents may not be able to attend every session, we do encourage parents to attend as many sessions as possible. As the group develops with each session, trust and relationships will build and parents will hopefully feel more supported by each other and grow in confidence.

You can sign up for the group by contacting the facilitator (nibby.withers@cognus.org.uk)

  • Family Workshops

We provide themed workshops for PTW cases run during the school holidays for the whole family to attend. They aim to provide skills and strategies for children on various subjects and are a great opportunity to meet other families in a supportive environment.

Topics may include:

  • Self-esteem and confidence
  • Friendships
  • Transitions
  • Emotions
  • Back to school family workshop
  • Sensory
  • Home visits

Our home visits provide families with personalised support in a familiar environment, making it easier for children to engage and for parents or carers to be involved. A session may be recommended to provide guidance with managing behaviours and emotions, or to observe the child within the home environment.
