Primary to Secondary Safeguarding Transfer Morning 2026

The Education Safeguarding Team facilitated a productive morning for our Primary school Designated Safeguarding Leads to handover safeguarding files and information to pupils’ new Secondary Schools.

The in-person event provided opportunities for valuable professional discussions and sharing of information – something a spreadsheet or file simply cannot replicate. DSLs were able to get a real sense of the humans behind the file and ask pertinent questions to ensure that when vulnerable pupils walk through those Secondary school doors in September, someone will be waiting on the other side who has taken the time to get to know as much about them as possible. All with the aim of putting in place the right support and safeguarding them from day one.

Networking and information sharing was further enriched by the attendance of Cognus Virtual School and Attendance teams, speaking to DSLs about the support they can provide for children with a social worker.

Feedback from DSLs on the day was extremely positive with one DSL saying:

“It is such an efficient use of time and I have got so much out of it.”

Thank you to everyone who took the time to attend. This is information sharing at its best.

Better together always.
