Celebrating the collective achievements of Sutton’s Designated Safeguarding Leads, we hosted our end of year DSL network event at Cantium House.

The afternoon began with a sharing good practice carousel – colleagues from infant, primary and secondary schools sharing examples of their excellent work that the Education Safeguarding Team observed as part of our safeguarding reviews. We had primary schools sharing how they support Young Carers and communicate safeguarding messages in an age-appropriate way. Secondary colleagues shared their Personal Development approaches, how they track vulnerable pupils and how to make a school website a user-friendly source of support for families.
Our thanks goes to: Beddington Infants School, Devonshire Primary School, Bandon Hill Primary School, Glenthorne High School, Wilson’s School and Sutton Grammar School.
Over nibbles and drinks, DSLs had the opportunity to network with colleagues from other schools as well as other Cognus Teams such as Educational Psychology, Virtual School, Attendance and Elective Home Education.

Our resident experts Gill Bush, Education Navigator at CFCS, and Sarah Westall, Inclusion Team Leader, gave schools insights and updates on Children Missing Education (CME) and Elective Home Education (EHE).
It was wonderful to see so many faces at the event.
