Attendance Support for Schools and Professionals

The Cognus Attendance Support Team works in partnership with schools, families and multi-agency services to promote good attendance and support children and young people to access education.

We support schools to meet their statutory attendance responsibilities, identify and address barriers to attendance, and access specialist advice and intervention where required.

All Sutton schools have an allocated Education Welfare Officer who:

  • Provides attendance advice and guidance
  • Attends Termly Targeting Support Meetings
  • Supports schools with complex attendance cases
  • Advises on attendance procedures and interventions
  • Coordinates support with other services where required
