Welcome Information – Sutton Music Trust

Meeting our service

Sutton Music Trust is the lead organisation in the Sutton Music Education Hub. We believe that all children and young people should access high-quality music education. We aim to help every young person in the borough to make, be inspired by, and celebrate the music that they love.

Children can and do access the Music Trust in several different ways.

Many children will take part in Whole Class Ensemble Tuition (WCET) lessons in Year 4. During these lessons, pupils learn about music. They play the same instrument each week, usually for the whole year. The instruments learnt varies from school to school. We have children learning the Ukulele, Violin, Trumpet, Trombone, and Music Technology. Pupils perform in our Key Stage 2 Instrumental Festival at the Fairfield Halls at the end of the year.

We offer instrumental and vocal lessons one-to-one, in pairs or small groups. Pupils can receive lessons at their school. These can take place during the day. Other sessions take place at the Music Academy after school on Wednesdays and on Saturday mornings. You can even learn about Music Production using computers and how to DJ!

Finally, we offer a comprehensive range of musical groups to suit all ability levels. Children can join our string groups, training bands, training orchestras. They can work their way up to our senior groups. We have a fantastic choir system for children that want to sing. We start with Sutton Songbirds in KS1 going up to Sutton Youth Choir for the older pupils.
