Cognus Autism Support: Enhancing Autism Understanding Across Sutton

Last week, the Cognus Autism Support team welcomed colleagues from Children’s and Adult Social Care to the Sutton Civic Offices for an in‑person training session on Autism and Strategies to Support.

The day brought together professionals from across the local authority to explore practical, neuro‑inclusive approaches. Through hands‑on, sensory‑based activities, interactive discussions, and real‑life case studies, participants deepened their understanding of autism and reflected on how to embed strategies into everyday practice.

What stood out most was the enthusiasm and openness of everyone in the room. The willingness to engage with lived experiences, share insights, and reflect on practice created a powerful learning environment. Together, we strengthened professional knowledge and built confidence in supporting autistic children, young people, and adults across Sutton.

This training is part of Cognus’ wider commitment to coaching, supervision, and collaborative learning. By working alongside colleagues across education, health, and social care, we are building a shared foundation of inclusive practice, one that values neurodivergent voices and ensures support is consistent across services.

The energy in the room reminded us that real change happens when professionals come together with curiosity, compassion, and a drive to learn. The Cognus Autism Support team is proud to be leading this work, helping to shape communities where all voices are understood, valued, and supported.
