Cognus Therapies Post 16 Team success in preparation for adulthood work

Cognus Therapies Post 16 Team focus on independence and social communication skills in preparation for adulthood with amazing success.

Since inception in 2017,  the Post 16 Therapies Team has grown enormously from having only one Speech and Language Therapist, Ashlea Stephens (POST 16 Speech and Language Lead), to having more than 10 staff contributing to the work that the POST 16 team do. As the number of students has grown, more staff have joined the team and the Speech and Language Team have recently inducted their first Speech and Language Therapy Assistant, Gitty Ahmadi. Emma Perridge is the Post 16 Team Occupational Therapy Lead and from September will be welcoming another Occupational Therapist to the team as the request for support continues to increase.

The team are proud to share a sample of feedback received recently:

Thank you to you both and to your team of therapists for the work done with students and the benefits they have gained from it, including over the past year where your team responded quickly and creatively to the changing challenging circumstances.” (South Thames College Group)

Emma, this sounds amazing! How have the simplest solutions to our lifelong problems!” (Parent)

You deserve every bit of praise there is. I cry every time X comes downstairs all dressed up independently after shower. Honestly, this worry used to keep me awake at night. X is 18 now, you see, you have given her such dignity. Thank you is a small word. I really hope you carry on working with Nescot.” (Parent)
