We are delighted to share Sutton’s updated ‘Every Child, Every School’ Ordinarily Available Provision (OAP) guidance, alongside the launch of our new Post-16 Ordinarily Available Provision guidance and Parent/Carer guide. These documents have been developed and refreshed in collaboration with SENCOs, Headteachers and professionals from across Cognus services and the local area and in response to feedback from parents/carers. Together, they set out the expectations for the support, strategies, and provision that should ordinarily be available within Sutton schools, educational settings, and Post-16 provision to meet the needs of children and young people with SEND.
The guidance aims to promote a consistent, inclusive approach across Sutton, supporting early identification and intervention for emerging needs and ensuring high-quality provision for all pupils. The new Parent/Carer guide has been developed to help families understand the support that should ordinarily be available within educational settings and to answer some frequently occurring questions.
These documents will continue to be reviewed and updated in response to feedback from schools, families, young people, and professionals, ensuring they remain relevant and responsive to our local needs.
We encourage all schools, settings, Post-16 providers, and professionals working in Sutton to familiarise themselves with the guidance and consider how they can support in its implementation.
