The Autism Leads in Schools training 2025 is in full swing!

Really enjoying working with our Sutton Autism Leads in person this year.

One school shared the impact of the last session for a student who was dysregulated.  He was being offered activities which he found too alerting which were then making him struggle even more. The session allowed this Autism Lead to unpick this and go back to their setting and suggest alternative activities which have made a real difference for this student.

Another school has used our classroom peer observation tool as the basis of staff appraisal targets to ensure all staff are developing their expertise and provision for autistic students.

There was a great moment this evening where primary and secondary school staff were discussing the transition and how to prepare students for independence. The primaries work on independence and developing confidence for the child to go and get the resources they need without asking and the secondaries were explaining that if they start wandering around the room in secondary school, they’ll get into trouble. These little nuances are why this can be a massive change for our young people and so this year we’ve created opportunities for schools to observe in each other’s settings. particularly across the age phases.

Here’s to Spring 1’s session!
