The Early Years and PVI Designated Safeguarding Lead Update Session, held virtually via Zoom on 10th November, was attended by 40 participants.
The Primary Designated Safeguarding Lead Update Session, held virtually via Zoom on 28th September, was attended by 72 participants.
The Secondary Designated Safeguarding Lead Update Session, held virtually via Zoom on 25th November, was attended by 46 participants.
For those schools and settings that were unable to attend, a follow up meeting with the Education Safeguarding Manager was held so that they were still able to access the resources and information discussed.
During the sessions, there were 12 key speakers sharing a range of materials on emotional health and well-being, support around self-harm and trauma, early help services, CFCS demand and referrals, risks in the local area and updates from the virtual school, alongside future training opportunities e.g., consent, peer-on-peer abuse, and low-level concerns.
Christmas is not always an easy time for our families for a variety of different reasons. We want to ensure that our schools feel supported in managing this difficult time, as well as feeling confident in being able to signpost families to the relevant services where needed. Cognus’ Safeguarding team aims to try and make this time a little easier on our children and young people and for families and Designated Safeguarding Leads to realise that they are not alone.
